FAQs
While antifouling might seem like a necessary expense, the ongoing cost of buying and applying new paint every season, as well as dealing with professional services for application and disposal, can add up significantly.
1 Environmental Impact: Traditional antifouling paints contain harmful chemicals like copper and biocides that can leach into the water, damaging marine ecosystems and wildlife.
2 Cost Savings: Antifouling can be expensive, with ongoing costs for paint, labor, and maintenance. By avoiding antifoul, you save money over time.
3 Hull Damage: Some antifoul paints can be abrasive, leading to potential damage to your boat's hull, which may require costly repairs or refinishing.
4 Clean Hull with BoatBag: While the BoatBag is submerged in the water, it isolates your hull from the elements, preventing marine growth without the need for antifouling. This alternative method keeps your hull clean without antifoul
A sleeve that you slide your boat into whether it be in a pen, marina or swing mooring. Once the boat is inside the bag the back closes at the stern creating a shield from marine growth to protect your hull
There's no doubt that antifoul poisons marine life. Not only is it harmful to our oceans, the regulations on the chemicals mean that it's becoming less effective as the years go by. Our EPA approved alternative involves only a couple of tablets of chlorine in the bag, with concentration of chlorine found to be lower than that in a glass of drinking water.
"You can save up to 60 per cent of the money you would spend in cleaning and replacing anodes, propellers and driveshaft parts due to electrolysis," says BoatSaver managing director, Tony Clark. "It also saves on the need for boats to be lifted, cleaned and repainted, which can be very expensive."
“The antifouling for my boat was costing me roughly 4 thousand per year and I bought a Boatbag for roughly the same value and now each year I’m saving the cost of antifouling and have spent my savings on a new main sail.” - Robert S. Beautypoint, Sydney.

No! The days of antifouling your boat every year at a great expense are gone!
Before the boat goes into the Boatbag it either needs to be:
Brand new boats that have never been antifouled and never will be
Pressure washed before putting it in the Boatbag. If there is no or very light growth you can just get a diver to give the boat a wipe
Previously antifouled boat that will never be antifouled again
The new generation of bags are a combination of PVC and double layer PE and include a new floatation and stiffening conduit system, which encloses the stiffening conduits and reduces wear in the flotation collars by preventing lateral movement. Fully enclosed weights also reduce the risk of damage to the bag with less chance to shift from their place.
We've had many returning customers whose bags have lasted 8 + years
Boatbag comes with a 2-year warranty covering manufacturing, fabric, and thread. The warranty does not apply to misuse or improper handling of the product.
